Acne & Scars
What is Acne?
If your pores become blocked by oil, bacteria, dead skin cells, and dirt, you can develop a pimple or “zit.” Repeatedly having this condition can result in acne. Acne is a skin condition that causes spots and pimples. They’re especially common on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest, and upper arms.
Types of Acne
Blackheads
Blackheads can appear on the skin, and aren’t as deep as ordinary pimples, but they appear black as a result of the pigmentation produced by the inner lining of the hair follicle.

Whiteheads
Unlike blackheads, whiteheads are not associated with excess oil production. Instead, they result from a buildup of dead skin cells and keratin from the hair follicle.

Papules
Papules are collections of early signs of inflammation. Some bumps on your skin can feel tender or sore.
What Causes Acne?
There are many reasons why you get acne, including genetics, stress, hormones, humidity, and using oil-based skincare products. When these pores become blocked, bacteria can develop inside them. Acne can arise when:
Your skin produces too much oil.
The dead skin cells that build up in your pores lead to acne by blocking the hair follicles.
Your skin has oil glands. When these are exposed to bacteria, this can result in acne.

What are Scars?
Not every scar is visible, but for some people it can be a small issue to some but for others it may lead to insecurities and low confidence. Scars are a natural part of the body’s healing process, in which new tissue replaces tissue damaged by injury. The most common scars are made by an injury or surgery, and they typically consist of a mark in the skin that’s lighter than the surrounding skin.
Types of Scars?
Scars form into various shapes and sizes. Many scars are flat and pale, like the discoloration depicted below. In some cases, scars may appear raised as a sign of excess collagen production. Scars that stand out from the skin are called hypertrophic scars or keloid scars. Both of these kinds of scars happen more often in younger and darker-skinned people. Some scars that appear depressed or pitted like the ones in this sentence may develop when underlying supporting structures (for example, fat or muscle) are lost. Some scars have the appearance of being raised, some are completely flat. Scars can also appear as stretched skin. Such scars result when the skin stretches rapidly (for example, during puberty or pregnancy). Scars may also grow larger if you are under additional strain during the healing process.
Causes of Scars?
When your skin is damaged, the body forms new collagen fibers to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. Scars form after a wound is completely healed. BB Skin offers various treatments that help to lessen the visibility of scar or help remove them completely.
